History

1985 - Ty Glassford opens the Montgomery branch for Comtex International and serves as Branch Sales Manager. Sales of new systems exceeds $100,000 two of the first six months. Montgomery branch is profitable at the close of fiscal year ending 12/31/85.

1986 - After being fired, Ty Glassford purchased the local office and customer base out of bankruptcy in December and incorporates in Alabama as Comtex of Alabama, Inc. This company was started based on his committment to service the warranty of those customers already sold and installed even though he received none of the revenue from the sale.

1987 - Comtex of Birmingham, Inc. is formed and the Birmingham office is opened. Comtex employs close to 20 between both locations.

1990 - Comtex builds a new location in Montgomery to accommodate the expansion of its service department and administrative offices, while providing more room for parts storage.
1992 - Comtex enters into agreement with Bellsouth to sell local service to customer base providing an even higher level of customer service and convenience as well as a single source, one-stop buying experience.
1996 - Ty Glassford is appointed to Dealer Advisory Board for Iwatsu America which is responsible for end-user feedback to Iwatsu for future hardware and software enhancements. Comtex becomes Beta Test site for several products.
1997 - Comtex installs its first LAN integration to Voice Mail system for US Air Force at Maxwell AFB.
1998 - Comtex successfully installs its first Voice Over IP system between Birmingham and Montgomery using 256 K data circuit.
2000 - Comtex reaches milestone by installing its 2000th telephone system.
2002 - Comtex installs first wireless Omega Trek telephone system for large campus.

2004 - Comtex continues to grow and posts 20 year first quarter sales record. Completes recovery after down economy and posts annual profit of  8.6% on revenues for FYE 12/31/03.

2005 -  New technology leads Comtex to introduce new product line that includes VOIP, TDM, SIP, and H.323 capabilities all built into a single system/platform, the Enterprise Communication System (ECS) from Iwatsu Voice Networks.

2006 - Comtex exceeds annual sales objective for Iwatsu Voice Networks fiscal year ending March 31 and ranks in TOP 20 out of 250 distributors nationally.

2007 - Comtex installs multiple VOIP systems and telephones for remote workers and also announces the release of new Omega 924 Telephone System for businesses with up to 20 phones.

2008 - Comtex announces partnership with Century-Tel to complete customer's one-stop shop experience. The release of the new ICON telephone is also announced. The nearly vertical standing ICON telephone has bluetooth capability, self labelling LCD screens, and live data ticker announcements. Despite the ecomomic downturn, Comtex posts a profit at December year end and posts the largest sales volume for the Fourth Quarter since 2004.

2009 - The demand for the ICON phones continues, showing a 20% increase in sales during the first quarter. Comtex adds IGEACARE Nurse Call Systems to its portfolio of products.  Also other new partnerships allow Comtex to offer website design/hosting, email hosting, and more local / LD carrier options.

2010 - New patent pending technology takes Telecommunications to a new level. With new features that allow for seamless transfer from office phones to cell phones and back again and a new text messaging feature - LanTalk uses FREE apps on smart phones - makes companies more efficient and employees more productive.
